There are hundreds of Tarot spreads and choosing which one is most suited to a particular situation can be tricky. 

The spread below is a good one to use when the qurent (the person being read for) has a decision to make and wants advice;

Deal three cards in positions 1 to 4 and one each at positions 5,6 and 7.

The cards in position 1 define the situation.

Position 2 describes what the querent thinks they ought to do and the card in position 5 shows the outcome of this choice.

Position 3 describes what the logical course of action would be and position 6 shows the outcome.

Position 4  shows what the querent wants to do, and position 7 is the outcome of follwing this course.

If using the Major Arcana (trumps) only, lay down one card only at each position.
